WHO WE ARE
The inception of Nandigram began in 1985 with a group of few friends who decided to leave a chaotic urban life behind to invoke a village life that was founded in simple living: the living that was graced by inward spiritual experiences coupled with commitment to social responsibilities. Nandigram was founded under the guidance of saint eminent poet of Gujarat, India. Shri Makarand Dave (1922-2005), and a nationally acclaimed writer Ms. Kundanika Kapadia (1927-2020). Nandigram is presently managed by Board of Trustees.
Nandigram was founded by two great souls and were blessed by “Shiva” and “Shakti”, Makrand Dave as Shiva, an inspiration, Kundanikaben as Shakti, an indomitable strength. It was based on a common vision and joint efforts, while Makarandbhai was source of guidance, Kundanikaben was administering day-to-day affairs. Together the couple had established Nandigram along with close friends sharing same ideology.
He was poet, thinker, philosopher, and sage. He was one of the most versatile writers in Gujarati language. Makrandbhai was born on November 13, 1922, in Gondal near Rajkot, Gujarat.
